Anti pyro brigade

Post by Jack33 »

Having recently infiltrated an anti fireworks group on fb it shocks me at just how much misinformation and false news that is posted on said page.

Most people claim they want to see pyro banned because of of their pets.

As a dog owner and someone who professionally works with dogs It is very easy to noise train a dog but it seems most people can’t be bothered to do it.

Maybe we should start a petition to ban all the spoiled yappy things that bark non stop every day of the year instead.

As the same with every year there’s another ban fireworks petition going about with almost 25k signatures.

A ban will not solve anything it will lead to a massive increase in black market dodgy deals with huge safety risks.
To round it up i do think we will see more restrictions on fireworks. Things do need to change and rules enforced but a full ban will never be the way.

If you was in a position you had control over the use and sale of fireworks what rules would you implement/ change?

I would make it compulsory to sell all fireworks at half price or less.

They don't actually care about anything other than their own selfish interests. No logic will ever come from these people.

News today that a few labour MPs are calling for a total ban or a reduction to the max noise limit. Currently set at 120 decibels reducing this to 60

A recent poll that’s been doing the rounds found that only 22% agree while 78% disagree

As part of my job I did some noise measurements this summer, there are two standard measurements used by councils. dBA and dBC. A is said to represent the response of Human hearing more realistically.
A measurements taken 5meters away from a main road measured 66.6dBA/79.8dBC.

A typical restaurant will often exceed 80 dBC due to chatting and talking amongst friends. People will moan that aparty/disco is quiet it ifs below 90dBC. Most festivals right near the PA at the stage will be measuring around 130+ dBC.

The real problem is almost no one who puts these stupid ideas forward has any idea how sound works at all. They completely fail to understand that 83 dB is twice as loud as 80dB in terms of energy. 20dB is 100x difference, so to hypothetically say to drop firework level from 120dB to even 80dB is 1000x reduction in energy...

Right then everyone now is the time to act.

Tomorrow (5th) a ban fireworks petition is being presented and has the backing of Sarah Owen MP.

Even thought the petition is question has an extremely larger number of non uk signatures this doesn’t seem to bother the elected MP.

The only thing I can advise you all to do is email your local MP and express your concern not only for the loss of a tradition but the fact our democracy is being undermined.

This really could be the last year we all have the freedom to buy even a selection box in Tesco so make it count

please take 30 seconds to sign a petition showing there are two sides to the debate and that NO FURTHER REGULATIONS ARE NECESSARY.
https://www.change.org/p/keep-fireworks ... -in-the-uk
(Ignore the donation part - that goes to the petition website, not us, so you don't have to donate!)
Yes this petition asks to essentially keep the status quo, which is something that you may feel is not worth signing, but it does a couple of things:
The more signatures this petition gets, the more it is promoted by Change.org, often recommending it to those who want fireworks banned. This shows them that there is another side to the debate and they are not the "majority" they think they are.
And according to MPs, they only ever hear from people who want fireworks banned or further restricted. At some point in the future it would be nice to submit this petition to MPs to say there are "x" amount of people who feel current restrictions are all that is needed. At the moment, we don't have anything to offer them!
It literally takes 30 seconds to sign this and it may well be a small part of us saving fireworks whenever the next government debate takes place. Get on it!
